protectraphaelsantiago:

ANYWAY, friendly reminder that Raphael Santiago

  • saved Simon’s life and helped him escape
  • turned him away from the Hotel Dumort, but it was to protect him from Camille
  • spent a whole day sitting next to Simon’s body, praying and looking after him
  • let Clary and Simon stay at the Hotel when they needed to hide
  • helped Clary save Meliorn even though Clary ended up going back on their alliance and stabbing him in the back
  • lent Simon one of his own suits for the wedding even though Simon has a history of ruining his clothes and Raphael obviously cares about his clothing
  • gave Simon an important title in the Hotel - you could argue that it was a made-up title, since Simon couldn’t really advise him, but it still gave Simon some authority in the clan which Simon abused in the finale
  • tried to train Simon, though admittedly he’s not the most patient teacher
  • genuinely liked Simon and treated him as a friend - see him smiling and teasing Simon, letting Simon touch him casually
  • was ready to accept Simon into their home and treat him as family
  • after Simon’s blackmail, gave Jace blood even though he could have gotten in trouble for it, and never really got mad at Simon for literally blackmailing him

Meanwhile, Simon

  • blackmailed Raphael when he didn’t want to help immediately
  • helped the Shadowhunters attack Raphael in his own home, metaphorically stabbed Raphael in the back and put him and his entire clan in danger by letting Camille free (he didn’t do this alone, but he still participated)

Yes, Raphael did kidnap Simon first, and it’s partly his fault Simon was turned, but that blame rests on several shoulders (especially Camille’s), and given that Camille gave the order, Raphael didn’t have much choice about the kidnapping.

Ever since that, Raphael did everything in his power to help Simon (and the Shadowhunters on Simon’s request), including literally treating him as family.

This isn’t to say that Simon is a shit person in any way, but claiming that he doesn’t owe Raphael anything (for example, a damn apology), or that the vampires did nothing for Simon is honestly ignorant.
